The Women At The March Did Not Walk For Me

The Women At The March Did Not Walk For Me
Written by Tiffany H

January 20, 2018, thousands of women, and some men and children, marched together for the ‘Women’s March’.

Not one of them marched for me.

How much are you willing to take & how much are you willing to risk, to speak the truth in love & stand up and at least be willing to be hated? – Gianna Jessen

It’s easiest to hide behind our beliefs in the comfort of our homes, around those who agree. I am maybe most guilty of all. My husband often gets to hear the brunt of my frustrations as I watch our country spiraling the bowl of the proverbial toilet. But it’s not ‘safe’ to talk about it publicly. Tolerance is not for the one who goes against the flow.

Until recently, learning that some Christians we knew marched with these people in DC, I didn’t know all that much about this ‘movement’. I knew a few foundational things that they ‘fight for’, but maybe I had it wrong. There must be something that would cause someone who knows and claims Christ to show their faces in support at this event.

Having now done my research, I can firmly say – these women did not march for me, for my daughter or for any of the reasons that make women a beautiful and respectable part of humanity.

Below are some of the movement’s core values (taken from the Women’s March website). They are the ones that directly align against mine as a believer in Christ. No matter how great the other values, these could never be overlooked in hopes to unite for the others.

REPRODUCTIVE RIGHTS
We believe in Reproductive Freedom. We do not accept any federal, state or local rollbacks, cuts or restrictions on our ability to access quality reproductive healthcare services, birth control, HIV/AIDS care and prevention, or medically accurate sexuality education. This means open access to safe, legal, affordable abortion and birth control for all people, regardless of income, location or education.

LGBTQIA RIGHTS
We firmly declare that LGBTQIA Rights are Human Rights and that it is our obligation to uplift, expand and protect the rights of our gay, lesbian, bi, queer, trans or gender non-conforming brothers, sisters and siblings. We must have the power to control our bodies and be free from gender norms, expectations and stereotypes.

WORKER’S RIGHTS
We believe in an economy powered by transparency, accountability, security and equity. All women should be paid equitably, with access to affordable childcare, sick days, healthcare, paid family leave, and healthy work environments. All workers – including domestic and farm workers, undocumented and migrant workers – must have the right to organize and fight for a living minimum wage.

IMMIGRANT RIGHTS
Rooted in the promise of America’s call for huddled masses yearning to breathe free, we believe in immigrant and refugee rights regardless of status or country of origin.  We believe migration is a human right and that no human being is illegal.

Let me explain how these go against my Christianity:

#1 Reproductive Rights

This simple sounding phrase is more accurately worded as the ‘right to kill your child’.

Marching with these women means you agree killing your child should be accomplished affordably. Also, even though there are numerous repercussions for killing an animal, they want continuation of no legal consequence for taking another human life.

You will never see me walking, marching or fighting for your ability to do these things. I do not accept the pathetic idea that anyone on federal, state or local levels should be allowed or required to FUND the murdering of your child. It is pure propaganda that any service provided by the diabolical organization named ‘Planned Parenthood’ can be aligned with the phrase “quality reproductive healthcare services”. Planned Parenthood has been at the forefront of an era of genocide and infanticide never before seen by the world. Anyone who supports them is willingly taking on the blood of millions of innocent lives.

God avenges innocent blood.

Your ‘reproductive rights’ end when you carelessly become sexually active. This is the way it is – humanity continues through the womb of a woman, after the unity of a man and a woman. No, it’s not easy. Some of the most important, beautiful things in life are not easy. Maybe your child will be the one to save YOUR life someday. How will you ever know if you murder them first?

It breaks my heart that a woman who has gone through the process of pregnancy, childbirth, and raising a child could find strength in her legs to stand and march for another woman’s ‘right’ to kill hers. They, perhaps, are the most lost of all.

The Rape Clause

Some women/young girls had no choice in the matter. They found themselves in a crisis pregnancy after the horrendous act of rape. If we as a society were to support these women, including offering true justice for the perp, they wouldn’t feel like they had to murder their child to ‘make it go away’. It doesn’t go away. Ask any woman who has experienced this. So many women have shared their stories, along with how their baby gave them motivation to continue living themselves.

The Fight Between Life and Death

No matter your stance at this moment, these next 15 minutes and 41 seconds could be some of the most blessed of your life. If there was ever a female to listen closely to, Gianna Jessen is her. Feminists could learn many, many things from this strong, courageous woman.

The receptivity of the great masses is very limited, their intelligence is small, but their power of forgetting is enormous. In consequence of these facts, all effective propaganda must be limited to a very few points and must harp on these in slogans until the last member of the public understands what you want him to understand by your slogan.” – Adolf Hitler

Also known as:

It is a woman’s right to choose.

#2 LGBTQIA Rights

People who label themselves under this description are human, yes. They deserve every right afforded to them by a free, ordered society. That does not allow them to trample on the rights of others because bullying just so happens to be ‘in’ now.

Some of the kindest, sweetest people I’ve met have been gay. However, I can not give my blessing to their living out this sin. Just as I would not encourage a liar to continue lying, or an adulterer to continue cheating. My duty as a Christian is not to march in support of various sins society has now deemed ‘ok’. These people in my life have always respected me for my stance, and it has never affected the care we had for each other.

We must have the power to control our bodies” – is in direct opposition of what they’re fighting for. They want the freedom to NOT have to control their bodies, to be allowed to act freely in whatever sexual way they please. This is a Pandora’s box that will soon decriminalize things like bestiality, child brides and incest. These are scary times we live in. But as I stated above, God will not always stand by quietly.

#3 Worker’s Rights

Undocumented workers must have the right to fight for a living minimum wage.

What does that even mean? We have laws and a system in place to protect our citizens from tyranny of a corporation or employer. Those laws are imperfect (evidenced in part by the Monsanto monopoly, and Big Pharma corruption), however they are there and in place for DOCUMENTED workers.

As a Christian, I agree with the verses in Scripture that state we are to be obedient to our earthly authorities, which include respecting the laws of the land regarding how to be there legally (Titus 3:1). This is as long as the law is not in direct opposition of God’s commands (Acts 5:29).

If you want the protections of the country you are in, become a citizen.

#4 Immigrant Rights

Our country is made up of immigrants, yes! My father’s parents came to America in the early 1900’s from the Czech Republic. My husband’s ancestry is from Germany. Our pastor’s family is Peruvian. America is a beautiful mix of cultures, colors and styles.

That happened because those immigrating here had a dream to be that melting pot together as citizens of one country – the United States of America. They did what it took to be here legally. They proudly support the country by paying taxes, adding skills to the workforce, buying/building homes and raising their children here. Many, many immigrants also fought, bled and died so that their fellow Americans could remain FREE.

Those who live here, without a desire to become citizens, in order to freeload off of our programs and welfare are truly ‘illegal’. Biblically speaking if someone refuses to work, they don’t eat (2 Thessalonians 3:10). They should be counseled in the importance and benefits of citizenship, and either begin the process or return to the country they came from.

Other Insights From The Women’s March

Some quotes I saw on signs at the march:

The future is female

This is one of the stupidest things I’ve ever read. You better hope it’s not just female, or your female family line is as extinct as the males you loathe.

#Notmypresident

You live in the United States of America. The US President presides over the entirety of the United States – your little bubble or ‘safe place’ included. The sitting president IS your president. The election happened, a long time ago. Get over it.

My body, my choice

Why does your body get to make the choice for what happens to a totally different, more vulnerable body? To the Christians at the Women’s March – you should know your body is NOT your own. This statement goes against the very basics of Christianity. Jesus said He will declare He never knew those who practice evil yet claim His name. You need to decide now which side you’re on.

Immigrants make America great

Yes, legal ones. See #4 above.

It breaks my heart that we are at this point in history, but it was bound to happen. We are a greedy, self-consumed, wicked people. But, fighting for the right to kill your own child… Having two precious littles of my own, knowing that fellow Mamas chant and scream in defense of this atrocity… It takes the heartache, and subsequential anger to a whole other level.

Jeremiah 17:10 NIV
I the LORD search the heart and examine the mind, to reward each person according to their conduct, according to what their deeds deserve.

In Conclusion

I will end with a quote of Gianna’s that should strike each of us to the core:

What arrogance – don’t you realize that you can not make your own heart beat? Don’t you realize that all the power that you think you possess, you really possess none of it, it is the mercy of God that sustains you.

– Even when you hate Him.

    • Thank you, Christa! I put on a good front. 😉 But Jesus is worth standing up for. Every time. Hugs, Mama!
BTW, I love your blog! And I love your motto of being aware that we have a God who sees us. Amen! How precious and inspiring!

  • What a perfectly written piece! Thank you for your words. It is time for us as Christian women to stand for truth…long overdue. We should be more concerned for what offends our Lord and Savior instead of those around us.

    • Amen, Winnie! We are consumed with the concerns of those around us and terrified of offending them, especially after the modern-day lynchings happening to our brothers and sisters in Christ. The truth is offensive. Sadly, Jesus is offensive. But He is absolutely worth standing up for.
Thank you for your sweet words, and camaraderie! <3

      • Jesus spoke of love, and loved all peoples.
Who exactly are you to say that gays are sinners?
I too, have grown quite weary of the finger putting done by many and call it Christianity.
        The judgement of others.
The behaviours of people who were brutally disrespectful to our last President, but act like the current person in office is the Messiah.
No matter how you slice it, there are many sides, and many opinions. If you are going to make these simplistic assertions, please have facts behind it and present your argument in a scholarly way.
Get out there and represent your faith by walking the walk.

        • Hi Deborah, thank you so much for taking the time to share your thoughts! Let me touch on them.

Jesus spoke with love and He absolutely loved all, I totally agree! However, He didn’t sugar coat things, and He didn’t allow sinners to live in their sin as if it were godly. Homosexuals are sinners, no worse, no better than any other sinner. We wouldn’t encourage a thief or an adulterer to live in their sin, would we? As Christians we always want to encourage others towards godliness. *However* godliness is nothing without salvation. Acting ‘right’ or even living in a moral way has never saved anyone from hell. Only Jesus Christ can do that.

I am also weary of politics. Both sides carry much blame, however as a Christian I can not align myself with any of the goals of the left and I can no longer sit by silently as people march in the name of ‘women’s rights’ (aka their right to murder their child). Jesus is not honored by anything Satan has a hand in and Satan most certainly has both hands in this ‘movement’.

I too do not agree with anyone who was disrespectful to our last president. Often, I’ve noticed people use that as their ‘permission’ to be disrespectful to our current president. Mr. Trump most surely is not the Messiah, but he was placed in the position by God (that’s biblical) and we are to respect that and pray for our leaders. They need much prayer!

Regarding me making simplistic assertions – Jesus spoke simply, so that anyone could understand Him. He wasn’t saving His words only for the ‘scholarly’. (Don’t misunderstand, my words could never carry an ounce of the weight of Jesus’.)

And lastly, facts. As a Christian, the most factual, trustworthy, important thing in the world to me is the Bible. I quoted many times from it, backing up my beliefs and I stand by it.

Thanks again for taking your time to comment!

  • So many of your thoughts are my own. Thank you for saying what many of us have failed to articulate. To borrow an expression, I’ll just say, Not my Women; Not my March. 🙂

    • Absolutely, Mama! I will steal that phrase and use it often. Not my Women; Not my March. Amen! I’m so thankful to meet other Christians who stand in agreement about this ‘movement’. Thanks for sharing, Brandi! (BTW, you have a lovely site!) 😉

  • Tiffany, thank you so much for sharing this. I share your sentiment, they did not march for me or any of my future daughters. It’s difficult to see people who claim to have faith and yet support these things, knowing it is wrong. This is such a difficult time in our country, it’s hard to have the courage to put your opinion out there when you know it isn’t the popular one and I applaud your bravery.
Do things need to change in our country? Yes! Laws need to be changed, to punish those who break the law and protect the victims of the crimes. What our country doesn’t seem to understand, is that those things are called morals and they can’t have them without believing in God. Humans did not invent morals and we can’t keep them without following what the Bible says. It breaks my heart to see how far we have fallen.
It reminds me of Rome, when they became heavily involved with the same sins; abortion, sexual activity of every sort, etc, God did punish them. Rome was destroyed, like Persia and Babylon before it. Every great civilisation lasts only 200-300 years before it destroys itself and I fear we’re very close to that here.
Right now I feel all we can do is love the sinners as God loves them (but like you said, not approve of or endorse the sin) which is sometimes very hard, pray that our leaders make decisions that are right for our country and not their bank accounts, and raise the future generations to be better and firm in their beliefs. Much like Jesus did, He never endorsed the sins of those He was with, but He loved them and through that they gave up their old life and followed Him.
I think what’s one of the biggest issues when it comes to this, is extremists (on both sides) that make it almost impossible to have a rational discussion. Because of people that spew hate on either side, almost no one is willing to listen to an opposing view because they feel judged and attacked. How are we supposed to show them WHY it is wrong if all they hear is hateful things being thrown at them? Should we call them out on their sin? Absolutely! But not in a way that is going to make them completely shut down and be unwilling to listen to anyone ever again.
We can’t just say “You are sinning and going to Hell unless you stop.” Think about how we deal with our kids. You can’t just tell them “No!” to everything bad they do. They don’t understand. Especially when they are very young. You have to tell them WHY doing that is bad. Otherwise, as soon as you turn your back they do it again. That’s something we never truly grow out of, we need to know WHY we aren’t supposed to do something. Adam and Eve anyone? The only way things will change, at least get better because we all know that we live in a fallen world and there will be sin until God destroys the earth, but the only way we’re going to reach people is to stop spewing hate and love them as God does. And truly, that’s what we’re called to do anyway.
God bless you, stay strong and loving.
    Brittany M.

    • Brittany! Thank you for your sweet words, and wisdom! You hit so many points, I feel like I just read a sermon! 🙂 I agree with all of it, and Hubby and I were actually just talking about an atheist friend of ours who is a deeply moral person. He shares all the same convictions we do, but no love for God and no real reason for being moral. Pray for our friend, will you? <3 I so love that Christians can immediately have fellowship with each other. Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts. Take care, sweet girl!

  • I love this. I completely agree. I hated that the people marching were assuming that every woman agreed with them. Thanks for posting this! Dropping by from By His Grace Bloggers.

    • Thanks, Sarah! I can’t stand the thought that someone would look at me and assume that because I am a woman I stand with that group on ANY of those issues. I HAD to speak up. As Christians we need to share the truth with love and not pretend that things are good when they are not. <3
